Elemi

Canarium luzonicum

Elemi is distilled from the resin of a tree, Canarium luzonicum, which is native to the Philippines.  It is closely related to frankincense and they both belong to the botanical family Bursacerae which includes some 75 tropical trees, and they share many of the same qualities.

In vibrational medicine and esoteric uses the oil is considered to have a unifying effect, helping to balance the upper and lower chakras in a similar way to vetivert, bringing a feeling of deep peacefulness combined with complete lucidity. Elemi is also used as a herbal medicine to treat bronchitis, colds, coughs, stress and wounds, mature skin, scars.

The constituents include `hellandrene, linonene, elemol, elemecin, terpineol, carvone and terpinolene.
